The New Century version, says it like this in verse eighteen, “You know that in the past you were living in a worthless way, a way passed down from the people who lived before you You were saved from that useless life You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver,” it had to be much more valuable Can you see that this whole passage is talking about value and worth? But, we were redeemed, we were bought, “With the precious Blood of Christ,” Who was like a lamb, He is the Lamb Pure and perfect Lamb Oh, somebody say: “I believe it (Congregation repeats) I believe it.” Now we began talking at the first of this series about how our value should not be in things we could lose If it is, we’re on shifting sand Our whole life is on something that can be taken out from under us, and we went into some detail as the Lord enabled us, talking about our identity should not just be in who we are after the flesh Who my momma and daddy are, who their parents are, what I am naturally, where I came from My identity shouldn’t be in my looks or in my physical ability My identity shouldn’t be in my possessions, in what I have My identity shouldn’t be in what I have done or can do Let’s say you’re the best in the world at such and such Well, it won’t be long until somebody else is the best in the world And then who will you be then? Well maybe you’re the best looking man or woman in your neighborhood Well, that’s only for a period of time Is that right? The Bible said all flesh is grass It’s like the flower of the field You hit your peak, you bloom, and then after that, you’re not quite where you used to be That’s just the way it is Physical ability, maybe you were the track star, you were the star quarterback, you were this, you were that Well, that’s only for about that long Right? And when you are no longer the fastest, the strongest, the prettiest, who are you? What are you? That’s when people go through what they called midlife crisis People go through identity crisis They feel like, “I don’t have my job anymore I’m not supervisor I’m not president of the company anymore…” Whatever the case may be Who are you? And the enemy is always ready to lie to you and tell you that you are a has been, you are a good for nothing, you are worthless, you are useless But he is a lying dog And that’s an insult to dogs everywhere (Laughter) (Laughs) But he’s a liar Right? And your abilities, your accomplishments, your possessions, your car, your house, your clothes, your looks, never were what made you valuable They never were And if you find out what it is that makes you valuable and that you cannot lose it, it will anchor your soul and you will lose all inferiority, all sense of lack of worth You’ll lose it, and you will become solid, on the rock of the sure foundation of the word of God, of the love of God Luke 16:15 in the NIV Jesus said to them, to the Pharisees and the doctors of the law, He said, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts

What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.” God has a very different value system then men and women in this world And we need mind renewal so that we see as valuable what He sees as valuable And if He calls it worthless, then we call it worthless If He said its vain and good for nothing, that’s what we say, even though the world will say it’s worth everything And the world calls what He calls precious good for nothing, and vain and foolish But we’re going to agree with Him, not with them What determines value? What is it that determines worth? How do you get to that? We’re doing this all the time in life, especially items that are of greater value, often times people get appraisals for them Appraisals for cars, appraisals for jewelry, appraisals for houses and real estate It’s a common thing How do they arrive at a value? At a worth for that item? Say a house, anybody ever got an appraisal on a property? What did they give you back? What did you pay for? What did you get? Well, they went out and they examined other properties in your area that were similar, right? And to see what they sold for It’s a comparison And so taking that into consideration, they came up with an approximate value of your place So how was the value determined? On what people are paying for similar properties The value is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it Worth is established by price paid You know, we talked about – Phyllis and I, I guess it’s been months ago now, we were out at a restaurant eating down in Sarasota And this car pulled up and I knew it was a sports car before it ever got the parking lot I kind of pick those things up And I heard the sound of it and I thought hmm, you don’t hear that sound all the time And I didn’t know it was, but these guys got out and actually came to the restaurant where we were eating, parked right in front of us We’re outside, eating outside and man, right in front of me Just a few feet Well these guys came and gathered around the car I actually walked out and looked at it myself This lady was asking me, “What is this?” I said I don’t know Which is kind of unusual Another guy came – a young guy came and he said, “That’s a P1 That’s a P1.” McLaren P1 I didn’t know what that was either I hadn’t been keeping up with it so much these days But it is – McLaren is one of its greatest, newest high-end sports cars And they went on to say that the price for it is one point three million One million three hundred thousand dollars And it would barely fit two people Barely Tight, small One of the people they came by and they said, “That’s ridiculous There is no way this little car is worth a million dollars.” And it just came up in me when they said that, you’re wrong Because the guys that just got out of it and went in the restaurant, it’s worth it to them

So you’re wrong Maybe it’s not worth it to you, but you’re not the one that determines the worth of it Oh, somebody needs to be awake in here I said, maybe it’s not worth it to you, but you’re not the only one in existence or on the planet And somebody, I came to find out later a little bit more about it, they only make a small amount of these and there is a waiting list, and people are lining up to give their one point three million for this car and are very disappointed when somebody won’t take their million dollars and let them have this little car If you say, “That’s ridiculous That’s ridiculous There’s no way that little car is worth a million dollars.” You are just wrong You are not acknowledging reality To someone, it is And they are the ones that determine what it’s worth If nobody wanted it, if nobody would pay that for it, it’s not worth that But if somebody wants it and somebody is glad to part with their one point three million, what are they saying? One point three million is worth something, but they are saying, “I want this more than I want the million.” So to them, which was worth more? The car or the money? A lot of people get so upset because money is worth too much to them That’s why they get so indignant because they actually are covetous, and a lot of folks worship money That’s why when they hear a big amount like that, it just goes all over them, it just makes them mad Why? Because, “That’s money Moneeeeey That’s big moneeeeey.” But to the people that parted with it, it was just money How about it? The value is determined by what somebody is willing to pay for it And what determines what somebody is willing to pay for it? Desire Desire Somebody say: “Desire.” Congregation: Desire They wanted that little car They wanted it a lot Until they were glad to part with a huge sum to get it And were happy when their money was gone but the little car was in the garage. (Laughs) The value The Bible says, “You were not redeemed,” you were not bought, “with corruptible things like silver and gold.” What determines our value? The devil is such a liar He’s been trying to tell you your whole life that you are worthless, based on what you don’t have, based on what you’re not, based on your failures, based on your mistakes, all kind of things And if he can get you and I to think our identity is in our looks or our stuff or our deeds, he’s got you There’s some point in your life he’s going to pull the rug out from under you because you’re not going to have that anymore like that You’re not going to be like that anymore But that never was what determines your value It never was what determines what you were worth That little car didn’t determine its own worth I said, that little car didn’t determine its own value Who determined the value of that car? The person that was willing to pay one point three for it The purchaser The redeemer That’s what redeemed means It’s to buy or to buy back The Bible said, you have been bought, you have been bought

with a price How much did He give for me? Silver and gold couldn’t buy you Wouldn’t buy you How much are you worth? Selah Think about it Go with me to Psalm forty-nine please Somebody say: “He loves me (Congregation repeats) He wanted me A lot.” (Laughs) He wanted me In Psalms 49:1 it says, “Hear this, all you peoples; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: Both low and high, rich and poor, together My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding I will incline my ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious,” or costly, “and it ceases for ever:)” How much is a soul worth? The Living Bible says in verse eight, “A soul is far too precious to be ransomed by mere earthly wealth There is not enough,” money, there’s not enough gold nor silver in the whole world to purchase an equal the value of one soul Now most of the world does not believe that There are people in parts of the world that will kill you over twenty dollars So their value system is nothing like God’s But to Him, people are precious Their soul is of such a value that there is not enough earthly wealth to equal it Do we believe that? I read somewhere some years back, it is changed some since then, but one guy was trying to say what is a human being worth and he said, “Oh, about a hundred and fifty bucks.” What do you mean? He’s talking about the minerals that are in your body We’ll see, that’s just being carnally minded We are a lot more than a body Well now, body parts have become very valuable and somebody gave a price of nine million dollars if you parted us out Which I’m not going to do, how about you? I’m using my parts But nine or ten million dollars is a joke It doesn’t even remotely begin to denote the value of a soul, because you and I are not just bodies with minds We are created in the likeness and image of the eternal God So in order to find out what we are worth, we have to find out what He is worth Now you’ll find as you understand more of these things, the devil hates this There’s no being more jealous and proud than him He wanted the rulership

He wanted the God likeness He was willing to rebel against God to get it But he could not do it And in the end, he is cast down and destroyed forever But you and I, who did not earn it, by His grace and mercy were made in the image – we weren’t made like angels, we weren’t made like animals, people will try to tell you that but you are not just an evolved animal Your body has some similarities with animals, everything on the planet has similarities, we are made out of the same dirt But that is just the house we live in This is just the vessel we inhabit, and this temporary flesh is not who we are and all we are Who are we? What are we? “The value of the soul is far too precious to be ransomed by mere earthly wealth There’s not enough of it in all the earth to buy eternal life for just one soul to keep it out of hell.” There’s not enough money, there’s not enough billions There’s not enough trillions The national debt times a million does not begin to equal the value of you Do you believe that? Do you believe you are worth that compared to all other things? Most people don’t even begin to believe that It’s why people struggle with fears and insecurities of all kinds It’s why they struggle Why would a person ever get to the point of suicide? They think so little of themselves until they want to destroy themselves You have to get to the place where you think your life is nothing, your future is nothing You have believed lies of the evil one You have listened to him and yielded to the thoughts and feelings until you have become deceived and believe a lie But the truth is, you are more important than every physical thing down here You and I are rare and precious in the universe Announcer: Make plans to join us for The Greater Faith Conference 2016 with Brother Keith Moore at Faith Life Church Sarasota, February 1st through the 5th Services are each evening and you’ll experience the life changing power of God through the teaching of Keith Moore That leaves all day to enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful Florida Suncoast area Start out 2016 getting built up in faith by attending The Greater Faith Conference at Faith Life Church Sarasota February 1st through the 5th
